Outschool, a US online learning platform, has launched “homeschooling” courses

Online learning platform Outschool has announced new courses and features for homeschooling families.

According to reports, the new curriculum helps the above families to design personalized learning experiences, and has the guidance of professional teachers. It also comes with a flexible course schedule and detailed progress tracking.

Outschool was founded in 2015. To date, Outschool has delivered more than 140,000 live online courses to more than 1 million learners in 183 countries.

Outschool’s decision follows a survey conducted in April. At the time, Outschool surveyed more than 1,000 parents of school-age children in the United States to find out how satisfied parents were with traditional education models, as well as their attitudes toward alternative or non-traditional education models such as homeschooling, online education, and more personalized learning through micro-schools.

The survey reveals how the education landscape has changed since the pandemic. The survey results show that parents are increasingly interested in alternative learning modes after the pandemic. Nearly a third (29%) of these parents support education savings accounts (ESAs) and other state-funded funds to offset public education alternative costs. Thirty-seven percent of families support the idea of micro-schools and home-school cooperatives that are smaller and provide personalized attention, and 44 percent support the online education model.

Amir Nathoo, CEO and co-founder of Outschool, said: “Since the inception of Outschool, homeschooling families and those seeking a non-traditional education for their children have been our primary users. We know that these families have unique needs, from selecting the right program to creating a well-rounded curriculum, from ensuring a student’s academic progress to meeting a student’s changing educational needs. We understand that developing a quality education program is time-consuming and can be overwhelming. We created courses specifically to try to make the process of pursuing homeschooling and other learning paths easier.”

Unlike traditional schools, Outschool Courses allow families to tailor their educational journey to the unique interests and learning needs of their students. Families can pick a team of professional educators who are appropriate to support students and ensure that they continue to achieve their learning goals, while also having access to course Outlines, standards consistency, progress tracking, and other features. By helping families create their own “personal school experience,” families can customize the content, learner style, and level of learning for each subject.

Cara Delzer, Head of Supply and Partnerships at Outschool, said: “The curriculum enhances Outschool’s current curriculum offering by providing a more structured and personalized academic experience that is specifically targeted at families looking to meet their core educational needs through Outschool. Combined with our tutoring services, we are focused on helping families combine rigorous academic content with clear progress tracking, while offering unique flexibility and competitive pricing.”
